For the lemon tree, there are slightly different pruning techniques required as opposed to other trees such as apple, peach or apricot trees. Do you want to keep it from getting out of control, or perhaps you want to remove some healthy growth or maybe you want to prevent it from growing tall. Before you can start pruning your lemon tree, it is very important that you know when to prune it. Apparently the best time is either just after a heavy harvest or after heavy flowering. When pruning it is recommended that you start from the bottom working your way up. No stubs should be left behind, all cuts should be flush with the stems or branches. The last step after pruning your tree, involves using tree paint to paint the trunk of the tree.
