Let the rabbits poop freely, as with rabbit poop, comes one of the best fertilizers for your garden. Seriously, I kid you not this natural fertilizer has done wonders for my veggies. On this blog you’ll find posts on this diy plastic rabbit hay rack, this diy 5 gallon rabbit waterer and this diy rabbit nest box. Today we shall be looking at how to make rabbit poop compost tea, the easy way.
When it comes to homemade natural fertilizers, you can never go wrong as a gardener. Most of them are simple to make and require very few ingredients. Take for example, for this one you only need two ingredients. Ideally, if you are using poop from your own rabbits, you want to design a catching mechanism below the hutch that collects the poop before it drops to the ground. Instead of making compost tea, you could also just add the poop to your compost bin.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- rabbit droppings
- 5 gallon bucket with lid
- water
Collecting your rabbit poop will probably the hardest thing you will have to do during this whole process. Once you have collected the poop, you just have to measure it into your bucket, before filling it up with water. With the lid securely in place, I usually leave the bucket out in the sun to allow the poop to dissolve for between 3 to 5 days. The compost mixture in the bucket should be stirred at least once everyday. In my case, this is usually done sometime during the late afternoon hours.
