DIY 5 Gallon Rabbit Waterer

If you didn’t know, now you know we are raising rabbits on the homestead. We have already built the diy old baby crib rabbit hutch and the diy PVC rabbit tractor for the fury cute little bastards. The other day we decided it was time to install this diy 5 gallon rabbit waterer for them.

Why this particular rabbit watering system, you ask? Well this will save you a lot time and energy when it comes to your rabbits. It is an ‘automatic’ solution that refills itself as long as there is water in the bucket. Not only is it super easy to build, it should take you less than 10 minutes to setup. As for the total cost, 20 bucks should be enough for each waterer.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Wash and clean your bucket before using it. A food grade bucket is always a better option. Then you can move on to drilling the hole in the side of the bucket an inch from the bottom. Make sure that you fittings are secured in place as tight as possible, in order to prevent any leakages. It may start leaking in the future, but you do not want it to start right from the get go.

The length on the water line depends on your needs, basically how far the bucket is from the intended water position. We only have the one cage, therefore there is no need for any splitters which would allow the water to flow to several nozzles. Ideally the bucket should be elevated, this will allow gravity to do its thing and ensure the water is always flowing.
