Homemade Chocolate Fudge Pop Tarts Recipe

They often say diamonds are a girls best friend, but I sometimes think that chocolate is bestie too. I am not sure if you have seen the easy chocolate mousse recipe, chocolate eclairs recipe and the chocolate fudge cake recipe yet. It doesn’t really matter, today I have this yummy homemade chocolate fudge pop tarts recipe to share with you.

I treasure all my chocolate recipes, and this one is no different. I wouldn’t put it in the ‘easy’ category since it has many different parts to it. But even then I could not classify it in the ‘hard’ recipes category. All your favorite chocolate ingredients come together in this one recipe, I am talking about chocolate chips as well as cocoa powder. When all is said and done, all your hard work will pay off when these tasty tarts hit your taste buds.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

unsweetened cocoa powder
whole milk or heavy cream
semi-sweet chocolate chips
salted butter
vanilla extract
all-purpose flour
granulated sugar
egg
powdered sugar
dark or milk chocolate
coarse salt or sugar
small saucepan
food processor
parchment paper
cookie baking sheets

You are going to have to wait for the chocolate fudge filling to cool and thicken for about half an hour, therefore it only makes sense that start by making the filling in the small saucepan. As you wait for the filling you can then move on to mixing the dough in your food processor. Somehow mine always ends up a little dry, but it’s nothing that a little water can’t fix. When the dough is ready, you can roll it out and cut into rectangles.

Follow the simple instructions to fill your tarts with the chocolate fudge, and seal them. Before baking in the oven make sure you allow the ‘tarts’ to sit in your freezer for about 20 minutes. The pop tarts bake for a maximum of 20 minutes, you can use this time to make the frosting. Allow them to cool, before adding the frosting on top. Usually in our house, these are gone within 24 hours but if not they can be stored for up to 72 hours.
