How To Dehydrate Carrots

I am one of those people that really loves to munch on them whilst they are still fresh. However, for the same reasons that I had to learn how to dehydrate spinach or how to dehydrate sweet peppers, I have had to master the art of dehydrating carrots too. All in the name of preservation and saving storage space while doing it.

I haven’t really found many recipes that call for dehydrated carrots, but I usually just substitute them for when the fresh ones are needed. That works well in some soups and salads. It is up to you to decide whether to blanch the carrots or not before dehydrating. Also you can choose to peel them or not, just keep in mind that the skin is loaded with nutrients. This is why I don’t bother peeling mine.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

We are dealing with fresh veggies, so you know the drill. Give your carrots a good wash before you begin the whole process. If you are peeling them, then get to it right away otherwise start slicing them. When loading the carrot slices onto your dehydrator trays make sure that they are all in a single layer. Instead of slicing, you could also shred the carrots in the food processor, I am not a fan though! 🙂
