I don’t think I will be exaggerating, but with the current spate of heat waves one of these days the world we live in will burst into flames. Summer has just beginning and we have already been hitting record breaking temperatures. Sure, we can slather on a generous layer of the homemade sunscreen lotion, but after a few hours you start to feel the effects of sunburn. This is why I had to look up a decent homemade sunburn relief cream, that the family can use.

Just my luck, I was able to quickly find one which contains one super natural ingredient especially when it comes to matters of the skin. I am talking about aloe vera. Not only does it have anti inflammatory properties, it also soothes and moisturizes the skin. In addition to this, you will also add 5 more all natural ingredients that with hydration, astringent as well as skin protection properties. Overally, this is an all rounded cream, that will provide the relief that your skin needs.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

aloe vera gel
coconut oil
avocado oil
witch hazel extract
beeswax
double boiler
peppermint essential oil (optional)
small jar
hand mixer
medium bowl (optional)
medium pot (optional)
whisk (optional)

As you see from the list of ingredients above, we are going to have to pull out our trusted double boiler for this one. The coconut oil, avocado oil and beeswax will need to be melted. If you do not have access to one, then a small bowl over a pot of boiling water should do the job. When melted give everything a good stir, before removing from the heat and leaving to cool on the side.

We haven’t forgotten about the other ingredients, they are mixed in a seperate bowl. Eventually when the oil mixture has cooled, you can work in the other mixture to combine the two. The easiest way to do this will be to use a hand mixer on the slow setting, however again a whisk will do the job if you have to do it manually. I prefer to store our cream in the fridge, it has an added cooling effect when you apply it. 🙂
