As fulfiling as all the daily tasks that keep us busy on the homestead are, they are often aches and pains to endure at the end of the day. In an earlier blog post we looked at how to make this homemade pain relief cream. Just last year, I discovered this homemade tiger balm oil recipe that I honestly feel is worth sharing with you guys.
There are quite a few options when it comes to natural homemade pain relief solutions. I particularly love this one as it is just a mixture of a few essential oils. The combination of these provides much needed anti inflammatory and pain relieving properties. I don’t usually have joint pain, but I have heard that rubbing this may help relieve it too. Don’t take this as health advice, I am just sharing what has worked for me. Please be sure to do your own research, before using this.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- emu oil
- olive oil
- clove essential oil
- lavender essential oil
- peppermint essential oil
- eucalyptus essential oil
- dried arnica
- oven safe bowl
- small roller bottle
- small funnel (optional)
In the first stage of this recipe, you have to infuse the arnica and olive oil and this is done in your oven for at least 2 hours. The oil is then strained and then left to cool before mixing in the rest of the essential oils. Pour the mixture into the small bottle, I use a small funnel to avoid spills. The last step involves shaking the bottle to mix. Apply a small amount to area that needs relief and massage with your fingers. It usually stores well in our medicine cabinet for up to 90 days.
