Uh huh, when Summer comes along we all love hanging out in the sun all day long. However, even after religiously applying this homemade sunscreen lotion we often still have to endure some sort of sun burn. A few years back I shared this homemade sunburn relief cream, that we used then. It still works, but nowadays I tend to prefer this even more soothing homemade after sun sunburn relief gel instead.
Let’s explore the individual benefits of each of the four natural ingredients, shall we? The aloe vera gel will tackle the pain and inflammation associated with sunburn, whilst the additional vitamins and nutrients help repair sun damaged skin. Tannins contained in witch hazel help soothe and heal the burnt skin. The Vitamin E is choke full on antioxidants which also help nourish and repair your skin. Whilst the peppermint essential oil possess a nice cooling sensation which aides in soothing your sun burnt skin.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 1/4 cup aloe vera gel
- 2 tbsp witch hazel
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional)
- medium bowl
- whisk
- small jar
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Add all the ingredients into a medium bowl. Whisk well together.
Step 2.
Transfer the mixture into the small jar and screw on the lid.

That’s it. Whenever you head out into the sun and come back feeling a little sore, this gel should provide you with the much needed relief you desire. Store the jar away from direct sunlight, in a cool dry area. We keep ours in the medicine cabinet, right there in our bathroom. Enjoy the sun ‘responsibly’.! 🙂
