Homemade Halloumi Cheese Recipe

Where are all my fellow cheese lovers at? If you have been following my posts for a while, you probably know that around here we no longer buy cheese. We have made everything from homemade cheddar cheese to homemade farmer’s cheese recipe and even homemade cream cheese. It doesn’t end there, as today I will be sharing this homemade halloumi cheese recipe.

There are some homemade cheese recipes, that are so complicated most people would rather just go out and buy the cheese. You will be happy to hear that this is one of the easier ones to make. Also instead of using just cow’s milk, this cheese requires that you add the same amount of goat’s milk too. It should take you about an hour to make this in your own kitchen.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Alright, there is two heating stages in this recipe. The first one is a mixture of the two different types of milk in a saucepan. The dissolved junket mixture is added to this after a certain temperature is achieved, and then it is all left to set for about half an hour. Before transferring to the second heating stage you must first season the cheese with the herbs and spices.

The second stage is a quick 2 minutes in the microwave, then a stirring of the mixture and yet another 2 minutes in the microwave. When the curds are ready, you can strain the whey and then press the curds. Whip up the brine which will be poured over the cheese in the storage container.
Ideally you should only store this cheese in your fridge for less than a week.
