I love making my own cheese at home. There are many different kinds of cheese you can make home, one of the easiest ones to make is this homemade cottage cheese.
This recipe has one main ingredient only raw milk. The best place to get raw milk will probably be your own cow, a neighbors cow or at the local farmers market.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- raw milk
- turkey baster
- mason jar
- glass bowl
- cheese cloth
- large pot
- butter muslin or dish cloth
- strainer
- salt (optional)
The cream has to be skimmed off the top of your milk, before you can let the raw milk stand for up to 48 hours on your kitchen counter. Actual time depends on your milk’s freshness. Keep an eye out for a firm jello-like consistency.
Half a gallon of raw milk will produce about 2 cups of cottage cheese. Don’t throw away the whey, you can use it for other recipes. Enjoy your homemade cottage cheese.
