I have to admit that I am the original version of the ‘green thumb’, meaning I prefer growing my food in soil. However, with all the research and advancement in technology you will now occasionally find me using diy sprouting mason jars and even talking about how to grow broccoli sprouts.
Nowadays, more and more people are becoming fans of micro greens and rightfully so. These tiny, easy to grow greens tend to pack a more powerful punch nutrition-wise, than their more popular garden grown cousins. If you are really serious about sprouting seeds, then an investment in sprouting jars is not a bad idea at all. Otherwise, you can just wing it and diy your way super healthy micro greens.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- untreated broccoli seeds
- quart mason jar
- sprouting lid or ring with screen of some sort
- sprouting jars
- water
First of all before you begin, make sure that you are using untreated seeds and not the seeds that are meant to be sown in soil. Your seeds will need to be soaked, I usually leave them overnight. The next couple of days will require rinsing and draining the seeds every few days. When the sprouts are ready, it is recommended that you de-hull them before storing them in your fridge. Enjoy! 🙂
