Homemade Goat Milk Mozzarella Recipe

There was once a time, when I used to share a cheese making recipe with you guys every few weeks or so. That was when we looked at how to make homemade cottage cheese, how to make homemade feta cheese and homemade ricotta cheese recipe. This morning when I was milking the goats, it dawned on me that I still hadn’t shared this homemade goat milk mozzarella recipe yet.

Those of us who have tried goat milk, tend to love it to bits. They say it is healthier than cows milk, and who am I to argue with that. Being able to turn it into cheese, is also an added benefit . However, the process itself is not as easy as most of us would like it to be. With this in mind, I have tried the alternative ‘microwave’ 30 minute recipe, but it just does not taste the same.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

If you like working with sterilized utensils, then that will be the first task you need to take care of, before you begin making your cheese. The first stage of the process involves increasing the temperature of the milk by heating it up in the pot. Then once it has reached 55 degrees F, you can slowly start to work in the citric acid. Then heat it up again to 80 degrees F and finally up to 90 degrees F.

The second phase involves setting the rennet, which in turn helps to separate the curds from the whey. When that whole process is done, you can then move on to the final stage which is stretching the mozzarella. You are going to want to use gloves for this, as you stretch and fold the cheese. When all is said and done, you can it in plastic wrap store unfrozen for 7 days or frozen for 6 months.
