I really love using our goat milk as an ingredient, whether it’s in the kitchen or elsewhere on the homestead. Who wouldn’t after all they say it’s ‘super healthy’. Remember the previous posts on how to make goat milk soap, how to make goat milk lotion and how to goat milk butter? Well today, I thought why not show you how to make this goat’s milk gelato recipe.
There aren’t that many goat milk recipes, on this blog and there’s only one person to blame for that… ME! If you do not have honey, you can substitute sugar instead. I would use brown sugar, instead of white that’s if available of course. You’re also going to need an ice cream machine, to do all the hard work for you. Again, if you don’t have one yet, you can find some great deals online. Having one in your kitchen, will make life so much easier.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- goat milk
- heavy cream
- honey
- egg yolks
- vanilla bean
- medium saucepan
- large bowl
- ice cream machine
- lemon peel (optional)
- tea bag (optional)
The cream, goat milk, honey and vanilla bean are heated in a the saucepan to just below the boiling point. Meanwhile, I will be busy whipping the egg yolk in the bowl, so that when the saucepan mixture is ready I can slowly add that to the bowl. You’re almost done, all that’s left to do is to add your favorite flavor and then churn the gelato in your ice cream machine. Enjoy! 🙂
