If my memory serves me right, one of the first posts I made on this blog was on how to grow mangoes. Nowadays, after enjoying fermented pineapple salsa recipe and fermented grape juice this, I decided to also give this fermented mango soda recipe a try. I give it two thumbs up!
As we explore more and more fermentation recipes, naturally you are going find some that you like and others not so much. This particular one requires 3 other ingredients besides the mangoes. Although it is recommended that you use organic ingredients, you can pretty much use whatever you have available. There is no fancy equipment needed for making your soda.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- filtered water
- organic mangoes
- organic sugar
- ginger bug, whey or water kefir
- blender or food processor
- medium pot
- fine mesh strainer
- glass jar
- funnel or measuring cup
- swing top glass bottles
Make sure you wash, peel and remove the pits from all your mangoes before blending them until smooth. The sugar, water and mango are boiled together in the pot. When cooled down you can the strain into the glass jar where the starter culture is then added. The fermentation will take up to 2 days, then transfer to soda bottles for storage. Enjoy! 🙂
