DIY Trampoline Chicken Coop

By now I think we have figured out that we will never run out of ideas for chicken coop designs. I mean I could go on and list every single one that I have already featured on this blog, but that would end up a very long post. However, i will just mention a few of my favorites like the diy old swing set chicken coop and the diy recycled doors chicken coop. I think this diy trampoline chicken coop, is pretty cool too.

Whoever thought that you can convert an old trampoline into a chicken coop? I think this has to be one of those repurposing ideas, that sound outrageous when you first hear about them. Then when you see the finished project, you will be like… oh wow, why didn’t I think of that. After doing more research on the interweb, I discovered that they are actually many different configurations that all stem from using the old trampoline as the base for the coop designs.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • old trampoline
  • chicken wire
  • wire ties or wire
  • 12mm plywood
  • 1×2 lumber
  • covering material
  • galvanized steel wire
  • hinges
  • saw
  • hammer
  • measuring tape
  • wood screws or nails
  • miter saw
  • jig saw
  • old chicken coop (optional)

If you are going to build the wooden section of the coop, then you would have to make your measurements and cuts. I on the other hand would just find one of my older coops and then try figure out how to attach it to the trampoline extension. The chicken wire attached to the frame, will help create a fenced in area for the chickens to roam and play in aka the chicken run.

This kinda project is perfect for reusing whatever you have lying around the homestead. You could just leave the mat attached to the frame on, to provide some sort of shelter. Alternatively, if the trampoline had a cover I would just leave that in place too. Without the coop and nesting boxes, the enclosed frame alone makes a great mobile trampoline chicken tractor. Let your imagination run wild, you may surprise yourself on what you’ll come up with! 🙂
