If you grow as many seeds as I do, then you know how expensive buying these pots could become. that is why in the past I have shared how to make diy egg carton seed starters as well as diy origami paper plant pots. In today’s post I will add yet another affordable option for you. I am talking about these diy toothpaste box seed starters.
For those of us who love Mother Earth, and are consistently trying to ‘live green‘ this project is perfect. Instead of throwing away those empty toothpaste boxes, you can just reuse them as starter pots and save yourself some money. You should also check and make sure that the box itself is biodegradable, that way you will be able to plant it directly into the ground.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- empty toothpaste boxes
- marker
- tape measure
- utility knife
Ideally you want to cut your box into 3 sections. Both end sections should be equal in length at around 2 12″, however the middle one will probably be longer. This is because unlike the sealed ends you are actually going to have to create flaps to seal the middle box. You can use some tape to hold the flaps in place. And that’s it you have 3 seed starting pots ready to go, you can then move on to actually planting your seeds in the pots.
