Anything that helps us be efficient on the homestead is always welcome. That is why you see I have featured a lot of self watering apparatus in earlier blog posts such as the diy self watering pop bottle garden, diy self watering rain gutter garden and the diy olla self watering pots. Today we will be taking a look at how to make this diy self watering dog dish.
I feel like we have been neglecting our dog a little and not engaging in as many diy homemade dog projects as we should be. This soda bottle re-purposing project will be the first of many to come over the coming weeks. In fact, you will probably be able to save a lot of money if you salvage the majority of these materials around your homestead. So let’s get started, shall we?
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- plywood
- 2×4 lumber
- white 4″ PVC coupler
- screws
- 2L pop bottle with “hour glass” shape
- jigsaw
- sandpaper
- hand drill
- dog bowl
- router with rounding bit (optional)
- paint (optional)
As with all building projects, we start from the bottom to the top. The plywood is the base of the station that will need to have its corner rounded using the jigsaw. If you have time you can round out the 2×4 too, using the router. The base can then be attached to the 2×4 using the screws. The coupler is marked, cut out, smoothened out and then you attach it to the 2×4. It holds the pop bottle with the water in place.
