With all the break backing manual work that comes with living on a homestead, it goes without saying that there will be a lot of sore muscles. I shared an earlier post on homemade gel ice packs that can be used to soothe those muscles. We also have these diy rice heat packs handy, for the same reason.
When it comes to the relief of sore muscles, using a heat pack is one of the most effective natural ways. I love that not only is this a heat pack, it can also be used as a cold pack. Also instead of using rice, you can fill it with alternatives such as beans, corn, wheat, barley, millet. They are reusable too, therefore you do not have to keep making new ones.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- cotton fabric
- long grain rice
- essential oils
- sewing machine
- scissors
- ruler
- pins
- thread
- needle
- funnel
- cutting mat (optional)
- rotary cutter (optional)
Begin by measuring and cutting your fabric for the packs. The size depends on your own personal preference. The cut fabric has to be sewn together, but an opening has to be left on one of the sides to allow you to fill the pack with rice. When packed you can sew up the opening with a needle and thread. To heat up the pack, place it in your microwave for 1 to 2 minutes.
