DIY Raised Goat Beds

We love raising goats on our homestead, however I have noticed that unlike other livestock their size they tend to demand a little more attention. Hence we have built this diy wooden goat perch, the fancy diy two story goat house and the many diy goat toys. The newest addition will be these diy raised goat beds.

Guess what? This is yet another easy wood pallet project. That is an added benefit as these are usually available for free from various suppliers. Not all goat breeds will be fussy about not sleeping on the ground. The nubians are the ones that seem to be bothered by this. You can however, build these for any breed. Did you know some goats sleep standing up? LOL

Here’s What You’ll Need:

I like that there is no dismantling the wood pallets, simply fix the sheet of wood and secure it with nails or screws. This effectively provides a smooth and continuous surface for the goats to sleep on. Then grab the cinder blocks and lay them down in each corner of the pallet.

These blocks will help raise the bed off the ground and keep it stable. Sit your pallet on the blocks and secure the platform to the side of the barn or shed. This way the goats will not be able to move their bed as it will be fixed in that one location.
