It is not a vegetable garden, unless you have some tomatoes growing in it. I prefer to use these diy pvc tomato cages or these diy tomato string trellis to support my plants. However, if you still insist on using those commonly available wire cages, then you may want to consider these diy pool noodle tomato protectors.
Yeah, this will probably be the best option if you are too lazy to build one of the many diy tomato cage designs available on the internet. We all know that all our tomato plants should be supported in order to allow them to grow well. The wire cages often cut the stems when the plants grow over them. Using these pool noodles will provide some much needed cushion.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- pool noodles
- scissors or utility knife
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Slit the first layer of the pool noodles in half.
Step 2.
Cut the noodle to fit the top of the cage.
Step 3.
Secure and fit your noodle around the top rim.
That’s it! Now your tomatoes will be protected from the wire or metal. You do not have to worry about the plants breaking or being cut in half. You want to repeat this for all your cages, that way you know that all your plants are protected. Happy Gardening! 🙂
