If you’ve ever tried administering pills to your goats, you probably have experienced first hand, how difficult it often can be. Therefore, just like when I first discovered this diy goat scratching post and this diy mason jar goat milker thing, I went searching for a solution. I am happy to report that my search was not in vain, next time you should try using these diy pill pockets for your goats.
Keeping your goats healthy at all times, should of course be a priority. Don’t let them miss out on vital medication, simply because they refuse to take their meds. This simple recipe requires 3 ingredients only. Try to stick to using all natural ingredients such as homemade peanut butter and whole wheat flour. As for the molasses, Blackstrap molasses is recommended for use when it comes to your goats. Feel free to adjust the size of your pockets, depending on the size of the pills you need to administer.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- peanut butter
- molasses
- flour
- goat pills or medication
- mixing bowl
The basic idea is that you make a dough using the ingredients listed above and then you roll the dough into little balls. The pills are then pushed and pinched into the little dough balls. It is these balls aka pill pockets that you then administer to your goats. I understand that some goats may still refuse to take their meds this way, fortunately we haven’t had any such issues with ours (knock on wood). LOL. Go ahead give it a try, your goats maybe as easy going as ours.
