DIY Monogram Planter Box

What is it about our initials, that makes us proud to display them almost anywhere? LOL. I have shared several planter box ideas on this blog such as the diy wood pallet planter box and the diy outdoor planter bench. I thought it would be fun to add this diy monogram planter box, made out of cedar wood to the list.

When building your exterior wood projects, it is always recommended that you try use cedar wood as it is more resistant to weather than most other types of wood. I am not really a flower person, so I will be be building this to use as an herb or salad planter. Also keep in mind that the size of your planter will determine how much wood you need and hence the total cost of the project.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

For accuracy purposes, you should probably start by tracing out the base of your initial. Then you can move on to measuring and making your required cuts with the miter saw. After the base, you want the sides, then the front and lastly the planter slats which are held in place by brad nails.

Drainage is very important, therefore make sure you drill a few small holes in the slats. Be creative when hanging up your planter you can use long screws or short ones with a wire to hang it like a picture frame. With your planter complete, go ahead and fill it up with potting soil and then plant your seeds or seedlings. Have Fun! 🙂
