How To Dehydrate Pasta Sauce

Ideally, you should strive to learn something new every single day. As for me, I already knew that you could dehydrate celery or dehydrate milk. But never in a million years did I think it was possible to actually dehydrate pasta sauce without ending up with some funny tasting sauce after you reconstitute it.

With the collection of homemade pasta sauce recipes, available on the internet, you shouldn’t have any problem finding one that you actually like. Dehydrating the sauce will help you save time and space too. For instance, if you made a large pot of sauce, you can end up storing that in just one quart size mason jar. On the other hand, you would need a few jars, if you were canning all that sauce.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Alright, let’s get started by making the pasta sauce. Remember, not to add any meat, eggs or dairy products. Any of these added to your sauce, will reduce the time you can store it after you dehydrate it. I also discovered the hard way that any oil should be added sparingly too.

For dehydrating the sauce, you simply spread it thinly on the dehydrator trays. After covering the trays with parchment paper, you can go ahead and process your sauce for up to 8 hours. When dry, all that is left to do is to blend the sauce into a powder. Store for up to a year in mason jars.
