DIY Mid Century Inspired Plant Stand

Growing plants indoors is just as fun as doing it outdoors. That is why you’ll find we have the best of both worlds over here. Over the years I have built various planters, from the diy raised planter stand, diy outdoor plantet bench and even the diy milk crate planters. Today, however the spotlight will be on this diy mid century inspired plant stand.

In this case, we are assuming you already have some pot or container in mind for your plants. Instead of just sitting it on the ground or some other elevated platform, we will give it some ‘legs’. This will turn your planter from ordinary to stylish without too much effort. This is a beginner level woodworking project, most people should be able to pull it off without any help.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

First measure the dimensions of the pot, that will be sitting on your stand. Then you want to cut the dowels to your desired, as this will be your legs. Next are the cross braces which are cut out of the pine board, followed by creating the slot that will allow them to interlock.

Both the dowels and the cross braces will need some holes drilled into them, so that you can join the too. Give them a good sanding once done, before applying the wood glue to all the joints to make stronger joints. The wood stain, will give your stand the mid century finished look, that we are going for.
