Ambiance lighting is always needed, especially out on our porch. That is why over the years we have experimented with different lighting options such as the diy mason jar solar lights and the diy mason jar citronella candles. These diy mason jar tiki torches are also worth a shot, I really like the light they produce.
In addition to being a light source, these could also help repel mosquitoes and other bugs. This simple project is cost effective too. The jars can be repurposed from you canning activities, the wicks and the oil should not cost more than ten bucks. How much time do you need to make one of these? It actually only takes 5 or so minutes to assemble one of these.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- mason jars
- hammer
- nail
- tiki torch wicks
- oil
- hand held drill (optional)
The labor intensive way to create a hole in your lid, would be to use a hammer and nail and gradually punch the hole for the wick. Alternatively you could just pick up your drill, and make the hole in seconds. Whatever works for you. Then you thread the wick through, half fill with oil and you are ready to light up your new torch… Yay! 🙂
