Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 10′ 2x4s
  • 14′ 2×4
  • 9′ 4x4s
  • 14′ 4x4s
  • power drill
  • two inch deck screws
  • roofing nails
  • table saw or circular saw
  • framing blade
  • metal cutting blade
  • roll of chicken wire
  • 2×10 tin roofing
  • outdoor paint
  • cinnamon
  • 2 hinges
  • 1 door latch
  • level
  • cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 wood clamps (optional)

Using recycled wood is great, however you may have to spend some time removing hardware on it. You also have to paint it if it is not treated. Digging a foundation is recommended in areas that have predators, otherwise you can sit the coop on the ground.

This type of coop can be used in areas with a temperate climate. For those of us who live in colder climates a few modifications have to be made to create a closed of section in the back, under the roof.
