Here is a portable solar hot water solution you can use for your home or mobile home. Most solar heaters tend to be fixed, how this diy pvc pipe solar water heater is not.
If you have any pvc pipes lying around the homestead you can use those. He even used drain pipes but does not recommend those as they may easily crack and start leaking.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 4″ PVC or abs pipes
- plywood boards
- hand drill
- pvc end caps
- 1/2″ npt adapters
- 3/4″ pipe
- clamps
- black paint
- garden hose
After you cut your PVC pipes into the desired lengths, they must be painted black if they are not already black. They are then clamped side by side before being connected by the tees.
The only downfall to this design is that there is less surface area that is exposed to the sun, so it will take longer to heat the water. However, you can expect to enjoy a nice hot shower on a sunny 80 degrees F day.
