We all need to go grocery shopping every now and again. Unless you go to a grocery store which gives out brown paper bags, you probably end up collecting a lot of bags. I have shared various storage solutions on this blog like the diy mason jar canisters and the diy hanging canned food storage. Do you think you could make use of this diy grocery bag holder, in your home?
These easy sewing patterns are the best, since I am still not a professional when it comes to the sewing machine. This particular pattern allows you to use an old tea towel, which saves money on fabric. The ribbons and the elastics, for some weird reason I always have some on hand when needed. I have since developed a special way to fold your bags for this holder, which saves space and makes it easier for the holder to dispense the bags.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- tea towel
- ribbon
- elastic
- sewing machine thread
- sewing machine
- sewing machine needle
- scissors
- lighter
- pins or fabric clips
- safety pin
As already mentioned above this is a sewing project, you should expect a lot of sewing. Starting with the channel that the both the ribbon and elastic will run through. Then you go on to sew the long ends, flip the bag right side out and then melt the ends of the ribbon. Lastly, the ribbon has to be threaded through the channel, then a few minor adjustments to ensure your bags can be pulled through the ‘dispenser’ hole.
