The whole idea of cooking without any actual heat for hours on end is very intriguing. Don’t you think? They say that anything you can cook in a Slow Cooker, can be cooked using this method. Well that is exactly why I decided to give this diy wonder box cooker a try.

I am sure everyone has a pair of old jeans or two lying around the house. Denim fabric works great for making these cookers, but any soft cloth material will do the job. You will also need to brush up on your sewing skills for this project.

 

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• soft cotton or broadcloth material
• polystyrene beads
• sewing kit
• sewing needle
• sewing machine
• scissors
• pot with no long handle
• pattern paper or newspaper

Use the provided patterns to cut out the required fabric shapes before switching on your sewing machine to sew them together. Follow the directions carefully especially with the top section of the cooker. The sewn sections will be filled with the polystyrene beads. You can also use Bean Bag Filler, EPS Beads (Regrind), Shredded foam shipping popcorn and lots more.

How Does It Work? The wonder cooker works by using retained heat. You just heat the food first and bring it to a boil for about three minutes and then you remove the pot from the fire or stove and place it in the cooker. It will continue cooking for hours on end using the heat within the food and the insulation without you having to reheat the pot.

The wonder box cooker can save up to 80% of your fuel, and you can cook almost anything from Rice, Chili, Stews, Soups, chicken and more. Just make sure that whatever you cook is fully covered by a liquid such as water. Some of the estimated cooking times are 60 minutes for rice and 3 to 4 hours for a whole chicken.
