The whole idea behind moving to our homestead, was to try reduce the stress of daily life by living organically and off grid. For the most part this has worked, as over the years we all have reduced our stress levels. However, sometimes life on the homestead can be a little stressful, that is when these diy squishy stress balls have become handy.

These are not just for adults, but kids can use them too. Especially those who suffer from development disorders such as ADHD and autism. Every year, we spend one fun afternoon as a family making these, just to keep a handy fresh supply. It is always amazing how simple solutions like these, make a big difference in our lives. Ok, are you ready to make some ‘stress balls’?

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• balloons
• flour or rice
• empty water bottle
• funnel

So the first thing we want to do is fill up your water bottle with the flour. Each ball requires about half a cup of flour, use the funnel to avoid making a mess. Then you simply take a balloon and stretch it over the mouth of your water bottle. Carefully flip the water bottle over, and empty the flour into the balloon. Apply a little pressure to enable the balloon to enlarge and take in the flour.

With all the flour in your balloon, pinch and release it from your water bottle. Make sure you remove any extra air pockets that may have found their way into the balloon. All that is left is to tie the opening of the balloon and wipe off any flour that maybe residue on the exterior of the balloon. We keep our stress balls in a small plastic basket, within easy reach of the whole family! 🙂
