Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • shortening
  • flour
  • cold water
  • large mixing bowl
  • fork
  • medium ziploc bag
  • pastry blender (optional)

Use your fork or pastry blender to cut the flour and shortening together in the mixing bowl. Slowly add the water whilst stirring with the fork, until the dough turns into a ball and is stiff but not sticky. Divide into half and let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes.

You can store the other half in a ziploc bag, in your freezer until you need to use it. After the dough has chilled for half an hour you can go ahead and roll it out. For a baked pie shell, place in your oven at 350 degrees F for up to 20 minutes. The crust is ready when it is no longer translucent. Hello, perfect pie crust!
