One of the most disheartening situations a container gardener may face is when a plant that was once thriving suddenly starts wilting. In most cases the solution is simple, water the plant. However, sometimes it gets a little more complicated and that is when it is necessary for you to know how to revive a dying plant.

In today’s post we will be looking at a few hacks you can try, in a bid to save your plant. In essence, it is almost like a checklist, that you go through when dealing with dying plants. If all goes well, by the time you try the last solution on the list, your plant should be showing some signs of life.

#1: Remove All Dead Leaves

You want to first get rid of all the dead leaves, before you can start working on reviving your plant. Just make sure that you do not tamper with any green shoots, often found on the base of the stalks. You need these for the new growth, once your plant starts waking up again.

#2: Change Potting Soil & Pots

The old pot and the soil must go. Opt for a brand new pot that has been washed and rinses. It is also recommended that you choose and use the right type of soil for your plant.

#3: Inspect Roots And Stems

Just like the dead leaves, any dried and wilting roots should be pruned. The best way to do this is to clean all the roots, removing any soil to expose the roots. The stem should also be checked for life.

#4: Water Your Plant Regularly

Just like us humans, any plant that does not have sufficient water will eventually die. It is therefore important that you make sure that your plants are watered not only regularly but also with the right amount of water.

#5: Provide Required Nutrients

Once the plant has started to regrow again, you can start applying fertilizer or any other nutrients that it requires. Makes sure you follow directions and apply the recommended rates at the recommended intervals.
