How To Make Mulberry Jam

I swear these berries are the lost cousins of all the berries available on planet earth. I have already shared how to grow mulberries in an earlier post as well as several other ‘cousins’ such as raspberries and blackberries. After you have stuffed yourself with those mulberries, you may try making your own homemade mulberry jam in your kitchen.

When it comes to jam recipes, I tend to gravitate towards those that do not require pectin. Even though I can now make my own at home, I still try to make my jams without it, as much as possible. You are going to need about an hour to prep and make this jam after which in the end you should have about 3 half pint jars of delicious homemade jam.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Alright, bring out that food processor and let it work on the mulberries for a few minutes. Next, you want to mix the mulberries and the sugar in the pot and bring them to a boil. Then you want to let the mixture simmer at low heat for at least 25 minutes or until it has lost about half the juice. Don’t forget to stir continuously. Finally you want to drop in the lemon juice and seeds, before allowing the jam to cook until you are satisfied with its thickness. You can choose to can your jam or just pack it in jars in your freezer. Enjoy! 🙂
