How To Make Homemade Vapor Rub

Sniff, sniff… cough, cough… sneeze sneeze… that is the order of the day when the cold weather hits and you catch one of those nasty colds. I have shared a few of my favorite remedies in previous post like the homemade cough and cold syrup and the cinnamon sore throat tea In this post I will show you how to make homemade vapor rub.

Did you know it only takes 5 minutes to make this? Well now you do. Plus, only 8 all natural ingredients are used for this easy recipe. Actually 3, the rest are a blend of various soothing essential oils. When compared to the more common Vicks Vapor Rub, I really do not see any significant differences. The soothing and healing is just the same, if not better with the homemade version.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Heat your saucepan on low heat (or use the double boiler) and then melt the cocoa butter and coconut oil. Next, melt the beeswax. Turn off the heat and remove the pan, allowing it to cool for at least 5 minutes. When cool, you can go ahead and add your essential oils, and then mix well with the spoon.

You can then go ahead and pour everything into the mason jar. Some of these essential oils such as eucalyptus, rosemary and peppermint are not recommended for use on children. So you have to be very careful, if you will be using this rub on kids. Makes about 4 oz. which you can safely store in the jar for at least a year. Rub a dub dub! 🙂
