Homemade Natural Dog Chews Recipe

The focus today will be on man’s best friend a.k.a. your dog. We have already featured quite a few recipes on this blog like the diy pumpkin peanut butter dog treats and the homemade dog donuts recipe. If you enjoyed those, you are obviously going to love making these homemade natural dog chews too.

I highly recommend that you make your own homemade dog treats instead of going out to pet stores. That way you are able to not only save yourself some money but also able to keep your dog on healthier natural treats. This recipe is super simple, it was Geico would say, ‘Even a cave man, could do it.’ If you have a food dehydrator, you can use that instead of the oven, the end result is pretty much the same.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • sweet potatoes or yams
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board
  • baking sheet
  • ziploc bags
  • parchment paper (optional)

Make sure that you wash and then dry your sweet potatoes. Also the oven needs to be preheated. The sweet potatoes ate then sliced at least a quarter inch wide. Lay these slices down on the sheet, then bake for about an hour or half before turning them onto the other side. When ready I store mine in the freezer in freezer containers or ziploc bags. I have found that they store longer in the freezer than in normal fridge compartment.
