After sitting indoors all winter long, your green thumbs are probably itching and ready for the gardening season to begin. In earlier posts, I have shared how to build this diy self watering seed starter container as well as this diy indoor seed starting rack. In today’s post we will be taking a look at how to make this diy seed starting light, so you can start your seeds indoors.
This is one of the simplest diy indoor grow lights designs, that you can easily build yourself. It is made from affordable PVC pipe and attachments. The only expensive thing will probably be the actual light. If not glued together, this setup is portable and easy to store away. Although it is recommended the legs be at least 18 inches tall, you can add on a few inches, if you so desire. Total project cost should be just below $10.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- fluorescent fish tank light
- 3/4″ PVC pipe
- L-connectors for 3/4″ PVC pipe
- 3-way connectors for 3/4″ PVC pipe
- PVC cutter
- chain or zip ties
- seed starting tray
- tape measure
- marker
- PVC glue (optional)
Bring out the tape measure and marker so that you can make your measurements for the top piece, the legs and the feet. Use the PVC cutter to cut all the required pieces, before assembly can begin just like building a LEGO. The lighting fixture is hung using the chain and the ties, if you don’t intend to store it away you can use PVC glue to make the joints more durable and stable.
