Homemade Chocolate Syrup Recipe

Remember when we made the homemade instant chocolate pudding and the homemade chocolate bars? Well it is therefore not a secret that our family loves all things chocolate is it now. This afternoon I made this homemade chocolate syrup recipe.

All you need is four main ingredients for this recipe. It is very easy to remember the quantities as well, because you basically just need one cup of each. We love to pour some chocolate syrup over ice cream, make chocolate milk and also in milkshakes. Yummy!!

Homemade Chocolate Syrup Recipe

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup water
  • pinch of salt
  • medium saucepan
  • wooden spoon
  • funnel
  • ladle
  • glass jar or bottle with lid
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee (optional)

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1

In the saucepan add all your ingredients, including the water.

Step 2

Add a pinch of salt.

Step 3

Mix well, until everything dissolves.

Step 4

Let simmer for 3 to 5 minutes while stirring the mixture.

Step 5

Use the ladle and funnel to transfer syrup into the container.

Allow to cool before storing it in your refrigerator. You can add the optional ingredients to your syrup to enhance the flavor. The instant coffee can be added with the all the ingredients. The vanilla on the other hand should be added just before you transfer to the container.

Chocolate Milkshake Recipe – 1/4 cup chocolate syrup, 1 cup cold milk and 2 cups vanilla ice cream. Blend well.

Chocolate Milk Recipe – 1 cup milk and 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup. Can be warmed up for hot chocolate.
