Herb Marinated Cheese Recipe

When it comes to making cheese at home, I have slowly become an expert. Everything from homemade chevre cheese, homemade feta cheese, homemade coby cheese and even homemade ricotta cheese. With all this cheese readily available, I tend to try different things with it. Have you ever heard of herb marinated cheese?

This is an easy and great way to preserve your cheese. Besides these jars also make cute gifts, especially for the holiday season. If you are worried about the cost, don’t be. Making these is super affordable. There are several ways to enjoy this cheese, for example you can just snack on it on top of bread or crackers. It also goes well as a hot pasta topping or in your salads (love this!).

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • plain goat or feta cheese
  • dried herbs
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • red pepper flakes
  • mason jars
  • labels (optional)
  • markers (optional)

The process is simple, for goat cheese you can make small balls with your hands. For feta you can dice it into small manageable pieces. Then in each jar, you can add an assortment of dried herbs and a little olive oil.

The cheese goes in next, followed by more dried herbs. More olive oil is poured just before you screw on the lid. Ideally, you want this to marinate for a few hours before serving. As a guide, allow it to sit for a minimum of 4 hours. Any leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 14 days. Enjoy! 🙂
