My goodness, we have been victims of the latest Summer heatwave, in these parts. Over the years we have found various ways to deal with the extreme hot weather such as the diy plastic bucket air conditioner and this homemade natural vitamin water recipe. The latest weapon we have added to our arsenal is this homemade frozen strawberry lemonade recipe.

Unlike the homemade black lemonade recipe, I have shared in the past. This one is perfect for those hot Summer days, when you just need something to cool you from deep within. I love that it is both sweet and sour, as a result of combining the strawberries and the lemon juice. Even better, you can add rum, vodka or tequila and easily turn it into a cocktail instead. Yay!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• fresh or frozen strawberries
• lemon juice
• granulated sugar
• water
• red food coloring (optional)
• ice
• blender

Wash and dry your glasses before getting started. Now if you want to be fancy, then feel free to go ahead and make the pink sugar which is then used to coat the rim of your glasses. As for me, I usually just skip this step and go straight into the blending. The recipe involves, simply adding all the ingredients in your blender and then blending until you are satisfied.

It is recommended that you, adjust the ingredients and add more or less depending on the taste. For the alcoholics, like me your are wondering how to add the alcohol, right? All you have to do is replace some of the water with a shot or two of your favorite ‘poison’. In which case, you are going to have to make separate batches, one without alcohol for the kids and the other with alcohol for the grown ups! Enjoy! 🙂
