This will definitely be a first and you know that I am always open to trying new things. Do you remember the fermented cinnamon apples recipe and the fermented lemons recipe? In both of them we used some culture to activate the fermentation. Well this fermented honey garlic recipe is slightly different.
You won’t need to add an additional cultures when making this immune boosting concoction. I don’t know if you are aware but both honey and garlic are loaded when it comes to medicinal benefits. This particular recipe uses the bacteria within the raw honey to initiate fermentation. You don’t even need ‘fancy’ jars, simple mason jars will work just fine.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- garlic cloves
- raw honey
- mason jars
- sharp knife
- cutting board
I really wish you could just throw in the garlic whole and unpeeled. Unfortunately, you can’t therefore you have to spend quite a bit of time prepping the garlic. When it is ready you just fill the jars about 3/4 of the way then add the honey. Don’t screw on the lid too tight, to allow the jar to breath. Now you just leave the jars in cool dry place and flip them every couple of days. Ideally you want to wait about 30 days, but I usually start digging in after a week! LOL
