When most of us think of succulents, the first plant that we think of is of course the aloe vera. We use it in a lot of stuff around here from the homemade aloe vera gel to the homemade sunburn relief recipe. In order to maintain a thriving plant, you are definitely going to need to make some of this diy succulent soil mix.
There are many other succulent plants out there, including and not limited to various cactii. Why the special soil, you ask? Well these plants require way more drainage than other plants otherwise their roots will rot and the plant dies. The 3 ingredients needed for this mix provide the perfect environment, but only when mixed proportionally. So let’s get mixing, shall we?
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- perlite
- coarse sand or poultry grit
- potting soil
- large bucket
Well the amount of soil you are going to need will probably determine, what you will be using to measure your ‘ingredients’. Just the 1 to 2 to 3 ratio and you can never go wrong. I usually just use one of the containers I will be planting my succulent in. That makes it easier to determine how much you are actually going to need. However, there will always be some ‘leftovers’.
