With all the livestock that we are raising on our homestead, it is almost impossible to win the battle against house flies. We have tried using this homemade fly trap, which works but there is still hundreds of them flying around. This is why we have decided to upgrade to this diy king fly trap.

Rightfully nicknamed the ‘king of diy fly traps’, I don’t believe I have ever come across on of this magnitude before. Ironically, it is the size that actually grabbed my attention. I figured, if you have a big fly problem, you probably need a HUGE fly trap to tackle it. LOL. Anywho, all jokes aside we really need a fly intervention, and this may just be the perfect solution.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• 1/2″ S 2 SSides
• SCross pieces
• S Top pes
• S 2 STrim
• 1″ brads
• 1/2″ brads
• 3/8″ corrugated nails
• 24″ screen wire
• small tacks
• 5/32″ Bessemer rod
• screw eyes No. 114
• brass hinges
• small clasp
• saw
• miter saw
• tape measure
• marker

Measure and cut your pieces that will make the frame as well as the sides of your trap. It is important to remember that two of the sides are not as wide as the other sides. Doing this make it easier to assemble the four sides. Repeat the same process for the side cross rails too.

Use the corrugated nails to hold the pieces together. Measure and cut out screen wire for each of the frames and attach it using the small tacks. The frames are assembled together, the same way as you would a box using plain butt joint and brads on each corner.

The lid is made from a square frame covered with screen wire. Next you will need to trace out the inside wire pattern, which is essentially four screen wire triangles. Then install the handle with two screw eyes and small hinges. Feel free to stain your trap, using a darker color to complete the project.
