Homemade Fermented Salsa

I never used to ferment anything in my kitchen. Don’t ask me why, I just didn’t. Then I tried it one with the fermented fresh berries and then followed with the fermented fresh sausage , I was hooked. You have probably made the normal everyday salsa, but I would like you to try this homemade fermented salsa recipe.

Why try the fermented version? Well you get all the wholesome goodness of salsa but with the added advantage of probiotics. Your tummy needs these in order to stay healthy, all you need is about a spoonful daily. This is a simple recipe with 5 ingredients only, and can be whipped up in just minutes.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • tomatoes
  • yellow onion
  • cilantro leaves
  • large lime
  • celtic sea salt
  • large bowl
  • mason jars
  • chopping board
  • sharp knife

Chop all your fresh ingredients, before tossing everything well in the large bowl. Spoon the mixture into the mason jars, and use the spoon to press so that some of the juice covers the top. Take your lids and loosely screw them on to the jars.

Now it is just a waiting game, place the jars into the cool dry and dark pantry. Let them sit for about 48 hours. You know the salsa is ready, when you stir it and bubbles are visible. At which time you can transfer to your fridge and use within 5 days.
