Homemade Chicken Flock Block Recipe

I know they have personally not been able to express their appreciation, but I can always tell that my girls love the treats I make for them. They really enjoy the homemade chicken pops recipe and also the homemade chicken scratch recipe. Today I decided to add something else into the mix, these homemade chicken flock blocks.

I love these because they are made from all natural wholesome goodness. You will also be happy to hear that these are not difficult to make. You may however need to purchase some of the ingredients, if possible buy in bulk as you will save yourself a whole bunch of money.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • oatmeal oats
  • crushed egg shells
  • layer feed
  • sunflower seeds
  • cinnamon
  • molasses
  • eggs
  • cayenne pepper
  • scratch grains
  • coconut oil
  • mixing bowl
  • small aluminum pans
  • garden twine

Set out all your ingredients on your kitchen counter, then make sure you preheat your oven to 325 degrees F. First mix the dry ingredients separately from the wet ones, then work everything well together into one bowl. Pack down the mixture really well into the pans, use smaller pans for shorter cook times.

Poke a hole in the ‘dough’ for threading the garden twine through when you hang them in the coop. Then put your pans into the oven and bake for at least 30 minutes. The blocks are ready when they turn dark brown, leave them to cool for at least 6 hours before you try removing them from the pans.
