DIY Wooden Outdoor Sofa

I really do not enjoy the cold weather, as I enjoy spending a lot of times outdoors. This is why in past we have completed a lot small projects for outdoor furniture. Remember the diy simple outdoor bench and the diy wood pallet outdoor bar. We are thinking of adding this diy wooden outdoor sofa, to our backyard.

I love the simplicity of this design. It also looks like any beginner do it yourself-er can assemble one of these. It just might take a little longer than the intermediate or advanced person. As for the cushions, we are going to re-purpose some old ones. Since they are going to be outdoors anyway.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Start by cutting your 4×8 into 32′ long pieces, these will make the sides of your sofa. The 2×8 should be cut to the length of your sofa cushions combined. Before you continue make sure that you sand all your cuts with the orbital sander.

Use the drill, to make holes about half the length into your 4×8 cuts. Use the lag screws to attach the pieces. With your two side panels complete, simply screw in your 3 L-brackets at same place on each opposite panel and then attach your 2x8s using wood screws.

Use the angle square, to make out the angle of your back support. Mark the exact same position on each side panel and attach the L-bracket before attaching the 2×8 back support. The next step is optional however recommended, stain or treat your wood so that it will be able to last longer outdoors. When the stain has dried up and you have wiped off any excess stain, you can throw on the cushions.
