Fancy a Philly cheese steak? I sometimes have the cravings for this Philadelphia specialty. Since I live no where near there, I have accepted that and concentrated on making my own homemade version. This is how I ran into this philly cheese steak panini recipe.
As you can probably tell from the title, this is a highly customized recipe. For starters, there are no hoagies in this one, they have been replaced by bread. Secondly, for the steak you can use ribeeye if you have it available, but chuck roast will work just fine. As for the cheese, here’s my advise… just use your favorite or whatever you have available.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- sliced bread
- onion
- chuck roast
- olive oil
- salt
- butter
- cheese
- sharp knife
- cutting board
- large skillet
- bowl
- mushrooms (optional)
- peppers (optional)
Start by slicing your chuck roast, you want slices that are about an eight of an inch thick. Slice your onion thinly next. Pour olive oil to the skillet and heat up at medium heat.Caramelize the oils in there for about 5 minutes then empty to the bowl.
The thinly sliced meat is next, season it with some salt and fry in the skillet with a teaspoon of olive oil. Allow about 3 minutes per side and turn over until all the pink has disappeared. Dump the onions back into the skillet.
To assemble the sandwiches, take a slice of bread lay down your cheese followed by a layer of the meat and the onions. Place another slice of cheese with a slice of bread on top. Toast each sandwich with a little butter in the skillet about 2 minutes per side. Optionally, you can press down on each side with a large skillet.
