When the winter falls, our gardens often feel lonely. However, that should not be the case. Today, I will share some tips on how to sprout your seeds in winter.

Contrary to popular belief winter seed gardening is not difficult at all, you just need the right tools and knowledge on how to do it. It is not expensive either, so you can cross that out as one of the other reasons why you prefer to ignore your gardening thumb over winter. Seed selection is also important, try sprouting lettuce, tomatoes, chives, sunflowers or even basil seeds.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

The idea is generally to sprout your seeds during the winter, so that they are ready for planting when Spring comes along. Besides the listed requirements, sunlight is vital to your success too. Prepare your egg carton or seedling tray with some rich organic fertilized soil so that you can plant your seeds in it.It is recommended that you follow any specific directions on the individual seed packets, ensuring that your planted seeds have adequate water and access to sunlight. The ideal soil temperature helps the seeds to germinate in about a week or so. Successful seed germination is only half the battle, you still have the rest of winter to deal with. LOL
