Oh today was one of those days that I decided to expand our current herb garden. We have different herbs already growing from basil, to cilantro and sage. It just occurred to me that I was actually missing one of the most popular herbs. That is why I looked up how to grow parsley in a window box.
I chose a window box, as I would love to have access to my parsley throughout the year. We will grow it in one of our green houses, even throughout the winter. As far as flavor is concerned you can expect that light peppery flavor that complements most other seasonings. The best varieties for flavor and texture are Flat Leaf as well as Italian parsley. For garnish, Curly parsley is the best option.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- parsley seeds
- window box
- river rocks
- potting soil
- screen
- water
- watering can
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Cut a piece of screen that covers the bottom of your box,
and then lay your river rocks over the screen.
Step 2.
Cover the rocks with the remainder of the screen.
Step 3.
Fill the window box to about halfway with potting soil.
Step 4.
Plant your seeds at least 2 inches apart and about half
an inch deep. Later you can thin them out to 6 inches apart.
Step 5.
Cover the seeds with another half inch of potting soil and
water them well before placing the box in a sunny area.
Make sure your window box has holes in the bottom to allow for proper drainage. Also keep the potting soil moist at all times. Allow your parsley to grow and you will have a fresh supply for your salads, sauces and as fresh garnish for your dishes. Parsley can also be dried, for long term storage.
