Growing Cilantro From Seed In Pots

Cilantro can be used in salads, salsa, soups, sandwiches or even in your tacos. You can grow cilantro in your garden, but it also grows very well in pots indoors or outdoors. Just keep it away from direct heat, so a nice shady area would be perfect.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • cilantro seeds
  • potting mix
  • container or clay pot

If you prefer to plant it in rows, you certainly could do that. However, it is just easier to take a handful and just spread the seeds evenly. Water well, first time around and keep the soil moist. It will take a few days for the seeds to sprout.

No fertilizer is needed, it grows well without. When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, you can harvest as needed at least once every week. This will keep more leaves growing to replace the ones you cut off. You can enjoy a minimum of two crops of cilantro from a single pot.
