How To Freeze Fresh Corn

It is that time of the year when we start to bid farewell to most of the fresh produce until next summer ofcourse. I still had some corn in the garden and I am going to use this how to freeze corn method, instead of canning it.

Although you can freeze corn on the cob too, I like her prefer to remove the kernels and freeze those in zipper bags instead. After all we do not eat the cob, so why should we freeze it too? LOL

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • fresh corn
  • sharp knife
  • large cookie sheet
  • large stockpot or blancher
  • ziploc bags
  • ice (optional)

The first part of this process is not fun at all, you will need as much help as you can get. The perfect job for my little helpers, that is kids. You have husk the corn and then blanch it in your large stockpot.

After the blanching process, then it is time to de-kernel the corn. Yet another tedious task. The separated kernels will be stuffed into the ziploc bags before being laid down in single layers in your freezer, until the corn is frozen.
